Volunteers will build ALL of the walls for Future Homeowner Paterica (“Petra”)
While working at Nissan, Paterica’s twin daughters volunteered with RCHFH. They would often encourage their mom to apply for the Homeownership program at the Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity. “I wanted to apply but was too scared,” Paterica admitted. “I honestly didn’t think I could.” As fate would have it, God’s plan was slowing coming together.
In 2015, Paterica began working at Schwan Cosmetics. Schwan Cosmetics partnered with RCHFH in 2023, which included volunteer days on the job site. Paterica signed up to volunteer with some of her co-workers. She spent the day putting in insulation and learning about the organization. When the applications opened a few months later, Paterica’s daughter picked one up and brought it to her mom. She completed and delivered it before the deadline.
Prayers were answered when Paterica finally received the news that she was accepted. She was so happy! She could not wait to tell her family and co-workers that she would begin the process of becoming a new RCHFH Future Homeowner. They have all been so supportive and they share the excitement with her. “I have wanted to own my own home for such a long time,” Paterica said with a smile. “To be able to have a stable, safe place to live is a dream come true!”
